"We stayed at the chambre d'hotes of Marguerite Rouge for four days and ate at the restaurant twice. The service is so overwhelmingly sweet and food and environment are great as well. I totally recommend eating and also staying the night at this place!!"

Recently my wife and I took a river cruise down the Saone/Rhone which stopped at Viviers, an amazing Quiet Medieval town. We had done some research before hand to check for restaurants and we're glad we did. We found Christopher and la Marguerite Rouge and it turned out to be one of the highlights of the cruise. This small family owned restaurant hidden away in the winding streets of this ancient town is a joy to behold. For anyone used to North American dining,it was a real treat to experience Rhone the way it should be. Situated in the lower level of Christopher's home with the kitchen up a level, part of the fun was watching Christopher keep in shape (up and down, over and over) the décor...

An unusual type of restaurant situated off the main road in a tiny little street. The owner first bought the house and set up a restaurant in his vaulted cellar with a outdoor patio next to it to enjoy a meal outside in the summer. The place does not really look like anything else but it is very cool! The food is top quality, the number of dishes is limited because as he explains himslef, the landlord/cook shops, cooks and serves alone every day. Nothing is frozen, vacuum packed or even worse canned. The wine is very decent and served out of a 'pichet': no expensive bottled wine to be found there. For a two course menu rounded off by a nice and generous piece of home-made tarte aux fraises +...

Called to make a reservation on Friday night but we're told it was full. My wife gently worked her magique and miraculously a table for two opened up. We arrived to this charming tiny restaurant located in a medieval cobble stone street. Christophe the owner/chef welcomed us warmly. It was all that that was said in orevious reviews and mores. Absolutely delicious, fresh delicately prepared dishes and inventive flavor. Christophe explained each one with enthusiasm and made great wine suggestions. Excellent evening in a unusual agreeable setting. Worth the detour.

I booked a table for a group of friends and had my reservation confirmed by the owner of the place but when we got there, the owner realized that he had made a mistake and that there was no table available for us.Such a mistake is unforgivable for a professional so I would not recommend the place.
