This is what all mountain restaurants should be like. With la Montagnette there is always the sense that you have found somewhere wonderful in the middle of the forest - and no one else knows about it! But of course everyone does, because the food is hot and honest, and attractive, and tasty. Perhaps sometimes the service could be a little quicker - but when the place is full of customers the staff are working at full tilt. It is busy for all the right reasons, and still the team has a smile for everyone. I pay a visit every time I am in Praz - though last summer I trudged up there in the rain to find it closed. Sat there amongst the cows with a saucisson and a pen knife and still enjoyed it...

Returned to the Montagnette today and reconfirmed that this restaurant produces the best food in the area and not just the best on the mountain. It's located adjacent to ski pistes, as well as footpaths that can be used in winter and summer, so no access by car; but after a morning's ski or walk, it represents a welcome eating and drinking experience. The cooking is a little more interesting than the usual French fare. Cross your fingers and hope that the dishes of the day include the wonderful crayfish (ecrevisses), veal in mushroom sauce or as today, oriental style stir fried beef and vegetables.
Having spent both summer and winter holidays in Flumet for the past 10 years I can confidently say this is the best restaurant we have found on the mountain. Reasonable prices, amazing food, a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff who are happy to accommodate veggies. We regularly ski from one of the other areas to here just because it's the best lunch out there. The place in the middle of the slopes is really nice. You have a beautiful terasse to enjoy the sun and the staff is really nice. Inside is quite nice too. You have good food with fresh ingredients. It is simple but good. Perfect place for a stop during your day of ski.
