La Paillote du Lac

Make sure you double check the bill as it is not the first time that they charge extra. First we had only ordered 2 starters and they brought us (and charged us 3! and the worse of all was that they added a bottle (3rd bottle of €29 to the bill that we didn't have nor ever order. As we were several, and not French (but locals!!!! they must have thought we wouldn't realise... Why give them business if the only thing they want is to rip you off? Also, the orders took FOREVER as the waitress forgot to pass on our order but she was apologetic so we were patient. But trying to steal by charging non existent consumption is simply not acceptable.

Such a shame. The loction is great, food was ok not fantastic but ok,but the cynical scamming of tourists is very unfortunate and so unnecessary. They told us 'sides were included so choose one for each dish ' and then charged extra for them. We had ordered extra sides anyway. They also brought an extra glass of unordered wine which I sent back but appeared on the bill. To add £20 euros to a £120 euro bill why bother?? There are many honest restaurants in Hossegor I would try one of those if I were you.

I don 't understand why our friends want to dine at this place, it is overrated, service is OK, but the food was too salty, I explained to the waitress, but nothing was done, the fish overcooked, the vegetables no taste, really, not worth the price and waiting time. The only interesting thing was to queue for the toilet and chat with the other clients. They are supposed to open a second toilet next year. Without us.

We were happy to find somewhere to sit outside on the deck overlooking the lake. We had tapas of razor clams, calamari and chicken satay to share. They have a more extensive menu than the other restaurants along this part of the lake which are mostly serving only oysters. We did notice that it was closed on a Wednesday though.

Nice restaurant close to hossegor lake. I Liked the atmosphere, the food is good. Not too many dishes but wel prepared. I liked the cote de bouef, thon rouge and magret de canard
