La Puente is a great place to get lots of food for CHEAP! Having moved to SLC from New Mexico, I am not the biggest fan of New Mexican food for how bland it typically is. Yet, when I pulled up to this place and saw pictures of landmarks in Santa Fe, I felt both back at my previous state of residence, and yet skeptical at the same time. I ordered a chicken enchilada not expecting much. The enchilada plate, just like at Sadie's or El Patron, came a massive portion filled with rice and beans and smothered in my preferred choice of red chile. Then, I dug in. I wouldn't even give this place a single star! If you're looking for quick food service, steer clear. We waited over an hour for our meals. It took us 10 minutes just to be seated, and then another 15 minutes to place our order. After that, we waited more than 45 minutes for the food, only to decide to leave without it. When we went to pay for our drinks, the cashier was rude and insisted on seeing a table note even after I explained that we only ordered drinks. Maybe she thought I was lying? It was yet another 10 minutes of waiting for her to find our note. Just as we were about to leave empty-handed, our food was finally ready—but we chose to decline it. The food here is the typical ready in 10 minutes Mexican fare you're all used to. It's surprisingly good despite the fact that they clearly need help in the kitchen. 1. No Mexican restaurant should have ground beef. Period. You might as well serve Baja Blast and put in a drive thru. 2. No Mexican restaurant should be using premade/preshaped taco and tortilla shells. 3. $2 for each, small, basket of chips after the first. If you're that desperate for more money, raise the menu prices. And unless you know you're going out of business in the next couple years, get someone to help with the interior of this place. Holy Hell does it need updating.
I moved out of state and haven’t been to this restaurant in a long time. Since I was visiting I thought I’d rekindle my love for the smothered burrito with cheese and onions. I was not disappointed. But the service was lackluster. My drink and chips were never refilled. The waitress passed by several times. I finally asked for more soda and she seemed put out. Reserva una mesa ahora
Amazing food, decent pricing. Expect a wait for large groups of course and the waitress was not nice. I understand we had a large group but I never got a water cup and I asked for it several times and missed my quest for sour cream at least I wasn't charged for it. Otherwise diffently recommend it for some Mexican eats.
