Visited for lunch with friends and family, warmly greeted by Giles the proprietor, the improvements to the premises do give it more ambiance. We enjoyed our amuse bouche and talking our way through the menu. Ordered our meal which was promptly served with a good bottle of Charante wine. When we got to the sweets Giles appeared with his sweet chariot and his marvelous selection. Two of the ladies had crepe suzette and Giles prepared them at the table with much theatre! A very good meal in good company, the restaurant was full and had real ambiance. An excellent Village Restaurant. Booking is a must!!

Excellent meal with friends and family while on holiday. food was excellent chosen from a 28€ menu starter, main and sweet, plus plat du jour. Sweet trolley was superb with a choice of at least seven to eight different puddings of which you could have a piece of each if you so desired. The owner maitre 'd was friendly and spoke English and explained the menu well or asked his son to search on google if he did not know the conversion We had complimentary drinks before our meal. A very enjoyable evening and excellent hospitality so much so we booked for the following evening with equally as good meal

This is always the first real meal I have in France, Giles, the proprietor always greets you personally at the door and it is a pleasure to eat and drink in his restaurant. You find lots of local regulars dining and the way they are greeted is a pleasure to see. The food is very very good although sadly time and expense have made the portions a little smaller but Giles specialises in local produce and wines and he delights in bringing around the sweet trolley and making crepe suzettes at the table. If in the area you must try it, but please book in advance

We made a long overdue visit to La Santonine last Saturday evening - the greeting we received in nice surroundings amongst local people immediately left us wondering why we had not visited before! The menu was helpfully explained by Maitre Giles and with good service our choices were nicely presented and most enjoyable at a very reasonable price. We are very much looking forward to our next visit!
