La Siesta - Reservar una mesa

I highly recommended this restaurant a couple of years ago but this year we were sadly disappointed. We went the first time this year with friends and had the lunch time menu which you can have as long as you arrive by 7pm. 3 courses for 15 euros each. What a disappointment the mussels were leathery with little sauce and the chips were greasy and overcooked. We put this down to having the lunch time menu later so decided to give the restaurant another try and returned a few days later on a Saturday night it was full but with only 2 waiting staff on duty. Again the meal was a disappointment one of us had a pizza which was nearly finished by the time the other meals arrived, burger bun burnt chips greasy and over cooked. We also notice a sign up saying that card payments not accepted (not there when we went a few days before) luckily we had enough cash to pay. We queried this and were told that the boss only had the card machine for 6 months to save on costs which happened to last year but later in September. The same people are running this restaurant so are at a loss as to why the standard of the meals had dropped. We had recommended this restaurant to other friends on our campsite so felt we had to tell them that we could no longer recommend this restaurant to them.

We have camped at Marseillan Plage every September since 2013. We were recommended this restaurant by French couple we met as the husband had worked with the chef/owner when they both worked for Air France. When at Marseillan we usually eat there 2/3 times each visit and have always found the food (plenty of) and service excellent . The only problem we experienced this year was at our last visit at the end of the season (we always eat there the night before we leave for home) we were told that we had to pay cash (normally card is accepted) there was a notice up to that affect that evening but when we had walked past earlier in the day there was no notice. So we had to walk to the cash point so be warned. Other than that a very good place to eat.

This has been our third visted to La siesta. Never fails to impress. Wonderfully fresh seafood. Great pizzas. Just what you expect on the Mediterranean. The seafood platters are really well priced and tasty. You are always offered freshly made Sangria, if it’s your thing, snap it up. They are great with children and it seems they are always happy to accommodate you without a booking.

The meal itself was decent enough but chosing from a set menu does tend to see smaller portions. The quality is good and the desserts in particular are excellent. Service also quick and attentive.

Too noisy and messy for having a conversation. Arrogant and VERY slow (but handsome) staff. Food was OK, but did not impress. Just squeeze your lemon over it all if you have already ordered.
