La Taverne - Reservar una mesa

Parking on the square on a wet night in Hazebrouck, we hurried into the nearest bar, La Taverne. It looked authentically Flemish inside, served local beer and a good glass of wine, and we enjoyed our snacks, variations on croque-monsieur. So we decided to return the following evening and have a proper meal. The wine included in the prix fixe menu was vastly inferior to the one I'd chosen previously and the main course was very poor indeed: old cauliflower [you could see where the bad bits had been cut off], very few potatoes, and barely edible chicken in a virtually tasteless greasy sauce. My chicken had cool spots and an unpleasant barely cooked taste. The patron mumbled an apology when I said it was insufficiently cooked but he was clearly not interested in the opinion of a passing tourist.

First people in at around 18:00, had the set menu. Service was good, wine excellent, food excellent and price was reasonable.

Top! Very good and well served... For a correct price: 22/24 euros per person... The terrace on the back is very pleasant.

We spent a good time with family and we ate very well for a reasonable price. I don't recommend any problems!
