My sister and I had dinner at La Tortue on May 2, and it was among the best meals that we had during our 2-week holiday in Normandy. I started with a creamy foi gras with fig and apple chutney. My sister skipped the entree. Before our plats were delivered, they gave each of us a shot glass with calvados "soup" with cinnamon. Amazing! My sister then had steak served over mashed potatoes and butternut squash, with some interspersed veggies and a balsamic glaze drizzled over everything. My plat was the same except with duck breast braised in apple cider. Yum! The piece de resistance was baked apples in a filo dough alongside vanilla and bourbon ice cream served on a sea of caramel sauce. Words...
We have visited many of the restaurants in Honfleur over the last two years and La Tortue was the best and the best value. It is clear when one visits any restaurant whether the chef and the front of house staff care or are just going through the motions. In Honfleur most that are situated on Le Bassin are doing the former and making a lot of money from the unsuspecting tourist. La Tortue is at the other end of the scale, the chef and I suspect his wife who looks after front of house do really care and each dish is prepared and presented in n excellent fashion. There are always special touches......the fish soup as well as the normal extras has cream for one to add.......the wonderful apple...
This 2 sty. restaurant is about 200 metres from the harbour area.We arrived relatively promptly around 7 p.m. on a Saturday evening as we hadn't booked and it had been a hot summers day with large crowds visiting to town.Apart from one person downstairs and 2 upstairs the place was empty - and we were shown upstairs.Chose the three course 27 euro menu which also came with an amuse bouche and a palette cleanser.The food was well presented, tasty and supported by an efficient service. When we left there were two or three empty tables upstairs but the ground floor was full.An enjoyable meal.
Wow. I could almost have written this review before I left for the evening. This place has been great for three years running. Great service, amazing food. We ate from the €31 version of the menu and were happy with everything we ate. My personal favourite was the salmon. Just wonderful. Top tip!! The menus are outside all day, so you can choose in English and then order in French on the night!!

After a long day visiting Normandy we wanted a good dinner. La Tortue was recommended by Michelin (rarely go wrong with them) in the town of Honfleur. Honfleur itself is truly a gem. La Tortue did not disappoint. Very friendly service, cozy atmosphere. Food is French with local ingredients and incorporates world influences from the chef's travels. Worth it!
EVERYTHING IS THERE: good smells of refined cuisine, friendliness and discretion of the person who welcomes and accompanies you throughout the meal, originality of the dishes and flavors, pleasant decor and surroundings, etc. It's a treat and we feel good there. I highly recommend.
The quality of the food is EXCELLENT! The enviroment is really cosy and the staff was really professional. The only thing is that there is not a lot of vegan options, but still I recommend it.
We had a fantastic time and would recommend other families to visit. Good fois gras, great salmon steak, fantastic deserts. The atmosphere was good too.

Excellent restaurant, super well prepared dishes with top flavors. The overall decor is done with great taste.
There’s only one starter and one main but both excellent quality and the main is fantastic.
