"This is regarded as the best restaurant in Sancerre. Michelin Star. So judging it by this criteria and other Michelin star restaurants we have eaten in, it was OK. The starters was to be fair very nice - aubergine and tomato creation, had many different flavours. The cheese board was a disappointment, the soft cheeses were no where near ripe enough."

La Tour is highly recommended by everyone and everything in Sancerre. Its ratings are amongst the highest of any restaurant in any city. It was hard to believe that such a small town could have a Michelin star restaurant operating at this level so we had to find out for ourselves. This process started two weeks before we arrived to ensure a reservation on a Friday evening. As they do not offer an online booking system, this entailed emailing them back and forth which worked very well - they are very responsive. La Tour has very short dinner service hours each evening - 7:30 -9 PM. What this means is that they have one service per night and you come in between those hours for your meal - no set time to come in. Upon entering, the staff greets you and promptly seats you. The dining room is quaint and homey feeling. The separation of tables makes for a very intimate setting at each table. Upon being seated, the staff promptly come over with menu's and water service. Everyone was very knowledgeable about the menu and their wines. The wine list was very extensive so be prepared. All local winery selections are of the highest quality. The menu is not overly large but they do offer different options on the quantity of courses you prefer or offer a chef's tasting menu (with the option of paired wines). Once you order, they begin with a bread service and typically a chef's special treat. We ordered the Chef's menu, which was made up seven courses + the special chef's treat. The size of the plates were good and the pace was just right. The presentation, explanation, and discussion of the wine's being paired was excellent. If you do order the chef's menu, make sure you come in very hungry as by the last course, you will likely find yourself very full. The quality and the freshness of the food was absolutely top notch. We have visited many high-quality restaurants around the world and other Michelin star establishments and La Tour really rates in the top 5. I recommend La Tour as a must visit if you are anywhere in the Loire Valley. This is a restaurant and meal you will not forget.

Absolutely remarkable! One of the best meals I have ever enjoyed. Outstanding highlights include one of the best Langoustine dishes I have ever tasted (and I've had a few as it is very much a favourite of mine), a chicken dish to die for and for someone who isn't really a desert type of person, the best medley of delicious morsels I have ever tasted. From a seven course tasting menu, the only dish I didn't think to be absolutely outstanding was a fish / apple / celeriac combo which for my palate, and I'm sure others would disagree, was too sweet for a fish dish. The recommended wine was spot on and the service friendly, very efficient and patient of my less than perfect French. Having returned home, just for interest I totted up how many Michelin * restaurants I have dined at. The figure now exceeds 20, La Tour is certainly in my top 5. Bravo!

Michelin starred restaurant in Sancerre, this was a full dinning experience, exquisite food and excellent service. We booked before we left for Sancerre, there are 9 tables only, so this turned out to be the correct thing to do. We had the five course meal, that was adapted for one of our party who was vegetarian, with no questions at all, the wine list was very extensive! Whilst this was expensive it was not out of the way for the quality. Fully recommended by all our party of four.

A very unassuming restaurant from the outside but the minute you step through the door the attentiveness of the staff, the discreet table setting and the general decor whispers of quiet quality. We were very impressed with the quality of the food. Everything was perfect..... the presentation, the taste.... it was exquisite! So much so, within a few days we returned to introduce family members (one of whom is French) to this treasure in Sancerre.
