La Vieille Auberge

Don't be proud at first glance at the unspoiling facade of La Vieille Auberge located in Le Mayet de Montagne, because behind, there are very nice surprises. Beginning with Catherine's welcome, which makes her feel comfortable. Installed outside, terrace against the church, no excitement of the decor and the small street and yet the magic operates. The BOEUF BLUE OF AUVERGNE is served in 5 minutes after the order while the 2 small rooms of the restaurant are full. Nicely presented, the dish eats. In the mouth, it's perfect: taste, finesse, seasoning. The Bavette Charolaise with its sauce is excellent and the gratin is melting to the card 14€ . LA CÔTE ROANNAISE red wine of the Château de Champagny 2020 : 1/2 bottle at 12€ expresses pleasantly once the temperature has descended a little! The dessert MAISON 6€ chosen from a long list, called PARFAIT GLACÉ AU MIEL ET NOIX DE LA COLLINE BOURBONNAISE, is a non-faute, especially since the fresh mint of the garden creates an ideal association with the sublime CARAMEL AU BEURRE SALÉ. Visiting places after the meal: at 9, the old room, at the old, typical wooden beams or reigns the friendly and family spirit. At 10, next door, entrance door of a village house, toilets: clean, impeccable but obsolete. A little lower from the street, change of scenery, as if there were two restaurants, another small room, renovated, charming and behind, by a beautiful corridor mixed with stones, crepi and wood, direction the terrace, always dressed in stones, neat, verdant, to the flashy tables: what to come back to spend another pleasant moment. Visit on Sunday 13/06 at 12pm We've been regaled! Warm welcome, smile and pleasant staff. We ate outside with a beautiful setting. The meal was delicious with a service without waiting. We were 5 adults and our 3-year-old daughter 1/2 and we had a good time. We thank you for your welcome. We will return without hesitation.

I return there every time I come to the Bourbonnaise Mountain and most often with guests. The meals are excellent and the friendly welcome. Especially book your seats in advance because it is very often complete on weekends. I recommend.
