this is the first time that the evaluation does not have the quality, interior or service. 7 minutes too late and apologise to the waiter/host arrogant, to tell us that next time we have to be on time. first impression. the interieur is outdated (80’s-*90’s look) and... quickly depressing. the small toy aquarium with a fish in it was the final touch. eating was like the inner and the service, seemingly good intentions with a serious scare of arrogance. it started with dried amuse bouches in a baked. the sauces are very, very rich and there is too much focus on a strong palette per dish. to finish a positive note, the desert was in order.

We had been and enjoyed the restaurant before a few years ago when it was run by previous owners and wondered if it could be as good this time. Well it was! Excellent at every level. Welcome. Ambiance. Restaurant decoration. Atmosphere. Choice of dishes and menus. Wines. In short, everything. The photos on the website are exactly as the food is presented. We went twice in one week, once on our own and then two days later with four friends, all of whom were delighted. Wish we lived closer…

We took the tasting menu with 1 meal and wine deal. Everything was very good but hearty for a 5-course menu. So if you're afraid to be hungry after this menu, make sure you don't. The wines are amazing and good. A great discovery on the whole menu and wines. Beautiful presentations, especially the dessert that represents... a champagne cap of course. ; The service is great. From the entrance we were warmly greeted. The cuisine of Gilles Pierres is always also sought after, a feast for taste buds and eyes. The service is very professional, they are attentive and charming. I recommend the foie gras that is excellent and surprising. Last asset and not least, the value for money is unbeatable. We had a very good evening, as always in this Old Forge.

Refined cuisine, inventive, with tasteful subtlety. Chef Gilles Pierés delighted us last night with this harmony of flavors that enchanted our taste buds just like our eyes. Bravo to the team because we must not forget the warm and caring welcome. Long live the Old Forge in Mesquer and harro to the grumpy!
