Overpriced with poor service. Our waitress was chastising us for not ordering correctly, yet she herself made a mistake by charging me for an appetizer that belonged to another table. This was the second negative experience we've had with the same waitress in just two months. The manager was also quite rude and dismissed our concerns about the waitress's behavior. She came off as condescending and unfriendly. The restaurant was very loud, with music turned up high, making it necessary to almost shout to communicate with each other. We started with appetizers that were pleasant but not remarkable. My wife ordered the duck breast, which was lovely and cooked to medium, just as she likes it; however, the accompanying vegetables could have been served warmer. I chose the veal with a two-pepper cognac sauce, but was disappointed to receive three dry slices of brown meat that lacked flavor, all covered in a thick, congealed sauce that didn't look appealing at first but surprisingly tasted quite good. It seems like both dishes might have been kept under a heat lamp while the duck was being prepared.

We visited the restaurant for lunch, and one of the women in our party ordered mussels, which she described as incredible. Another ordered steak, and when it was overcooked, a new piece was brought out promptly. One lady had gnocchi, which was both delicious and served in a generous portion. The dessert cakes were light yet delicious as well. Our server, Nico, was very professional and helpful; he had an excellent knowledge of the menu. We felt like we received white-glove treatment, and Nico even came to open the door for us as we were leaving. We will definitely return for celebratory lunches.
When our friends finally arrived, we placed our order, and everything seemed to be going well. However, during our meal, the restaurant's lighting was dimmed significantly, making it quite dark, even with several other tables still occupied. Then, out of nowhere, the lights were suddenly turned up to full brightness, reminiscent of a bar closing at 3 AM. This was quite unsettling, especially as we noticed the staff starting to leave.
While the food itself was good, the overall experience was far from enjoyable.

I had lunch on a Sunday, and while the mussels were decent, the sauce was overly thick and contained whole peppercorns that were almost inedible. The fries were soggy and lacking in flavor, and the pizza didn't taste good at all. Additionally, the bathroom was unclean and had large advertisements for male diapers, which was quite off-putting. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience, but I wouldn't want to return.
I absolutely love this location of L’Academie! It’s very spacious and offers plenty of parking. They have a special from Sunday to Wednesday where mussels are just $20 per order and pasta is $19. Plus, it’s BYOW, making it a fantastic spot for dates, girls' night out, or family gatherings. P.S. Our favorite sauce for the mussels is Flamande—it's creamy and delicious!
Martin is an outstanding front-of-house staff member! Every time I visit, he is warm, kind, and professional—truly a great presence in any restaurant! Our server, Tristan, was amazing as well; I enjoyed every moment of her service. She is a fantastic asset to any establishment! Thank you so much!
I visited the restaurant during lunchtime when it was less crowded, making for a peaceful atmosphere. I ordered a flat iron steak with a salad, and it was fantastic. My friend chose the salmon with a salad that came with an orange dressing, and she also raved about how excellent it was.
