Had a wonderful meal at Lakeside tonight, highly recommend this Highlands classic. Service is excellent! I called for a reservation and they couldn't accommodate me until later than I hoped... they promised to call night of in case there were any cancellations. THEY DID CALL! Got me in at our preferred seating time. From the time we arrived until we left we encountered nothing but kind, efficient and welcoming service from the staff. Food was absolutely delicious. Every once and awhile you go to a restaurant where you already know the food is outstanding but the service , THE SERVICE, is outrageous! This is Lakeside. Nothing is overlooked. 5 stars all the way! I had the stuffed rainbow trout and my husband had the pork chop. Both excellent. We started with the tuna tortillas and ended with the ice cream tort. Absolutely fabulous.
Not a good meal. Two saladsadded a chicken breast to one of the salads. Ordered sweet tea to drink. $64 before a tip! Asked why the 6oz chicken breast was a $28.95 up charge.the manager laughed at us and said, “you’re in Highlands!” I really prefer only giving local restaurants good reviews but this needed to be shared out. I’ve been coming to Highlands since the 80’s but for whatever reason I never knew about this place until we took a short cut the town. Kelly and the staff were delightful. The food was amazing. It was so good we made reservations for the next three weekends. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Nice location. Cozy inside. Friendly staff. Nice menu options. Wide variety of seafood. Fish dishes from Florida (Triple Tail, Cobia) were frozen, and tasteless. This was a disappointment. I should have known to go with the local caught Rainbow trout. Excellent salad and desert.
After being loyal customers for 11 years, we have decided not to return to this restaurant. The steak we ordered was very disappointing and we sent it back, but were still charged for it. The rest of our group also agreed that they would not be coming back.

My favorite restaurant in the Highlands area! I love the flavor of the shrimp and grits! Try the mud pie! It's fantastic!
