I guess before you leave you need to check the takeaway box to see if it actually has your food inside...how can they hand you your order that you have stood and waited for and not have checked they actually put the food in the box? It is utterly bizarre and for the initial reaction on the phone afterwards to ask how this happened to be laughter and disinterest before being offered a refund made the whole fiasco even worse. Fish and chips and battered mushrooms are delicious. Avoid the onion rings as the cheapest frozen rings from Lidl are far better. Prices have gone up everywhere but 12.50 seems high for fish and chips. Most important, double-check your order before you leave. I was very disappointed when I got home to find they left the chips out of my bag. When I went back. they refused to replace them. There are lots of glowing reviews and recommendations posted on the walls, but none are recent. L'Alba d'Oro has been my go-to chippy for 14 years after trying many in Edinburgh but I'm going to try out a few others now.
This fish and chip shop closes way too early for Scotlands capital city, 9:30 pm is the current closing time and that’s even throughout the Edinburgh fringe! Crazy. I turned up at 9:20pm for a takeaway and was abruptly told “We are closing!” Very rude and not customer friendly. The food is expensive, but quality is good, pity about opening times and customer service. There are a lot of options for takeaway food, so this restaurant needs to step up.
I ordered a fish supper, smoked sausage supper and a bottle of diet coke this week delivery via deliveroo. Total (including a £3 tip for the delivery person) £34. It 's vastly overpriced. Diet coke turned out to be normal coke. hardly any chips and a small fish. Wouldn 't like to see their actual 'small fish ' option. It used to be that L 'alba D 'oro was the place to go but not any more and I doubt if I 'd use them again.

I can honestly say this is the most over priced chippy I have ever been to. Ordered 2 fish suppers, 2 southern fried chicken suppers (which was 5 chicken bites per supper) 2 tubs of garlic mayo 4 cans of juice £57 I could not believe it. The fish suppers were excellent nice fresh fish with lovely batter but very modest portion size for £12.50 £2.50 for a tub of garlic mayo is just unacceptable
First time using and was very optimistic..... However, I was extremely disappointed with the service, price and quality I had a couple of fish suppers that took a while to arrive and were small and full of grease. Sorry its a bad review as I'm sure you are proud of your business and its obviously a popular place, but it's a no from me.
Food decent but vastly overpriced in comparison with competitors. £12.50 for a Fish Supper! £9+ for frozen chicken breast pieces. £2.50 for Garlic Mayo, £2.90 for a wee tub of cheese. No need for prices like this. Food decent, nothing out of the ordinary though and why put chips on top of the fish?! Going downhill overall.
very poor customer service. abrupt and and unhelpfuleye contact, then after i prompted them , was told very sharpley that id have to wait another ten mins.. kept me stading around for ages while they dealt with a delivery. no

Used to be one of the best chippies in Edinburgh sadly no longer. Quality of food not nearly as good as it used to be, prices up and customer service non existent. Why close 20 mins earlier than advertised.
Pretty good fish and chips. However...they don't sell mushy peas! Seriously. A chippy that doesn't sell mushy peas. Beggars belief! LOL
