L'Ancien Chablis Restaurant

When visiting Montreal in 2018 we were introduced to this wonderful restaurant in Saint Lambert. We went back on a snowy evening. We arrived and as it turns out we were the only people in the restaurant others had cancelled due to the snow, their loss! I ordered the salmon tartare. It was beautiful and delicious. It had pineapple on the top of the tartare, was surrouded on the plate by balasamic vinegar and red fish roe. Definitely a taste treat and worth trying. For the main course, I had the osso bucco with a red italian sauce. My wife and I recently ate on the outdoor terrace and, while the service was decent and the portions were large, and the food was quite good, we couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed overall. The lack of attention to detail was evident: there were no tablecloths on the outdoor tables, the parasols were only partially open and obstructed by the neighboring table, wine was spilled on the outside of my glass, and we had to ask multiple times for water. This restaurant has the potential to be much better. Our previous experience dining indoors during the winter months was significantly better, so perhaps it was just an off night. We will give it another try in a few months.

I would give 4.5 stars if I could. Everything was perfect. The presentation of each plate was exquisite. My only disappointment is the taste: all dishes were somewhat bland. I chose their salmon tartare which I felt was missing pizzaz and not quite as tasty as at other restaurants. The tuna was beautifully constructed and looked amazing, however it lacked character and the mashed potatoes fell to the same fate. I was tempted to add salt. I will go back and try other dishes.

We we're 8 and enjoyed a very nice and quiet dinner at this older restaurant.I had been there many years ago.The dining room is beautiful cosy. The service was friendly and efficient.I started with salmon tartar served with pineapple and skate wings with capers with a vegetable puree.My husband had steak,others had rabbit.For dessert I had a cream brulée

Small typical French Restaurant in Saint Lamber, Montreal. Interesting menu offering items not often seen in other Restaurants like veal kidneys, veal liver, roasted scallops, etc. Well prepared food and tasty. Yum. We dined at this restaurant on July 26th for dinner. We ordered a special veal dish and fish, both of which were delicious. The recommended wine paired perfectly with our meals. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience! The decor is traditional and we suggest making a reservation in advance.

I celebrated my 60th anniversary dinner at this restaurant and we reserved the entire space. The food, atmosphere, and service were all excellent. I have been back many times since then. I particularly enjoy sitting on the terrace during the summer.
