I recently went back to my favorite restaurant to celebrate my birthday with a friend. We started with the smoked salmon appetizer, followed by a delicious steak diane and a huge rump steak. The highlight was the amazing pfeffersteak that was so tender, my knife cut through it effortlessly. The restaurant displays their price menus and opening hours at the entrance on Whitefriargate. The friendly atmosphere and good food make this restaurant a must-visit. The silver service adds a personal touch to the dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant for a fantastic meal.
We were eager to try out this restaurant but ended up disappointed. We were shocked to see that they charged £2.80 for a small glass of cola and soda. The atmosphere was cold and the restaurant was empty. When my vegetarian friend asked for an omelette, they were told that they didn't have any eggs. The steak was priced at £20, with an additional £5.75 for sauce. By the time they added some vegetables and chips, the meal would have been nearly £40. We quickly decided to pay for our drinks and dine elsewhere. We do not recommend this restaurant.
Really sorry but ours wasn’t great at all. We used to like here and the same inside but the food is nowhere near as good. The staff are lovely and whilst the service was very good the time between starter and mains was far too...quick (less than 5 mins). Both steaks were nice but both over cooked. The fried rice was very greasy and the scampi batter was too thick. The salad, jacket and halloumi cheese were nice and the cauliflower cheese and mushrooms were superb. Expensive for the quality and hard to criticise in this great old restaurant.
Visited with friends on a quite night, but really enjoyed the meal and service. Steaks cooked to perfection, veg too. Silver Service at the table, not seen that in years, lovely blast from the past. No vegetarian option on the menu though, luckily there was...fish. Veg and chips etc all charged extra but they were generous portions and in future would share them, wouldn't describe it as greek food as some do, only moussaka on the menu. In summary would certainly go again as a treat, or special occasion, but a tad expensive.
Step back in time to wonderful food and great hospitality. The sort of place that does a prawn cocktail (really well) and a steak Diane to die for tasted amazing. Very knowledgeable for gluten free options, which was reassuring. Wonderful hosts and great cooking....Haven’t been for a few years, but won’t wait a few years before we go back again.
