Walking into the kiosk dripping wet dragging sand everywhere to the stares of the young & old got me thinking it was 1950's White Australia Policy however it coulda just as likely been that mess i just dragged in. Not being chased out like some dirty rat was at least a good start. Standing in line shirtless & dripping water all over the tiled floor might be enough of an excuse in some countries to have your hands cut off but here in this seaside take-away store it seemed like it was ok.The prices are mid-range for take-away food, you can't expect to pay $2 for fish'n'chips anymore, it isnt the 80's. My elderly Family visited the beach just to kiss winter goodbye at Largs Beach & the Kiosk for an eat-in 'Fish & Chips' lunch.The facility has easy access for mobility impared patrons with a choice of outside benches or sheltered seating inside to chase away arctic sea breezes.Im impressed with the light batter on the succulent butterfish; which was correctly cooked. Happy to see Chips were served as apart of our meal & not french fries.The aussie side salad of sliced tomato & cucumber with schredded carrot & lettuce was crisp and delightfully FRESH. We hadn't visited Largs Bay for many years as we usually go to the beach at Semaphore just up the road. It was great to see both the improvements and the old jetty. The kiosk is very traditional serving the usual ice creams, chips and some healthier options. Best thing is that it is super dog friendly. We ate our ice cream surrounded by friendly pooches and their owners and it was a very relaxed way to have some refreshment. Largs is even more laid back than Semaphore and the kiosk is a wonderful mix of old and new. A good children's play area is next door and if you want a more substantial meal the Largs Pier hotel is just across the road.
I'm a Largs Bay local and I occasionally get a coffee or cold drink here, because it's a great location to sit near the beach. The girls who work in this place sadly are very rude and seriously give the impression they couldn't care less about the customers. I stood there with an ice coffee on the counter waiting to buy for several minutes. No other customers were waiting and I was just being ignored. Been here a couple of times and not disappointed. Fish is plump, white and fresh with light delicious batter. Not slimy or skin on which is very common here. Chips are fairly average but I'm more concerned how good the fish is. Very reasonable prices and service is quick. Far better than Sohos at Semaphore which everyone seems to rave about.
I just paid $17 for two large butterfish, a cup of chips and one can of drink. The fish needed a search and rescue exercise to find it in the soggy batter, the chips were so salty they were inedible. The location is prime, the kiosk run down. There are much better places along the coast. With better value for money.
