We arrived in Haro at lunch time, parked the car and proceeded to the Plaza de la Paz. We had not idea where to eat but as we were looking around my husband noticed a lot of locals going through a door which appeared to...be a restaurant and pension. We followed them up two flights of stairs and were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves in a large dining room filled with local workers and families. the restaurant is well positioned in the main square and serves as bar, with the main square for dinner high in the second floor. the dining room is quite simple, with a large menu. we chose a menu of the day, and that was more excellent, with large amounts of food that arrive at regular intervals throughout the evening. wee were in order as the evening meal. this was not a challenging culinary experience, the dinner was enlivened by a large number of small children in lounge chairs, but it was pleasant and we were served by willing waiters.
we had a good meal and our waitress was very pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately, when she went for the bill, she was caught by someone we suspect was the manager. he didn't know we spoke Spanish and the waitress said we had no drinks. when I was with my wife, I didn't want to cause any problems, so I let it go, but it was worth letting others traveling know what will happen if they are obviously out of town. this problem is very rare in Spain, so worth mentioning. avoid them!

It was many year since we had last eaten here and then only for dinner. This time wee went for lunch, when the restaurant was very busy with locals. The food was excellent, our only criticism was that we were given virtually no rest between...courses and so left feeling extremely uncomfortable. I can appreciate that local workers may need to eat quickly, but others prefer a more leisurely meal.
Hemos estado el viernes 25/10. la relación calidad/precio es excelente. el menú del día es a 13€ y viendo la calidad de la comida, la verdad es que vale mucho. El único pegamento es que hay suficientes escaleras para subir y la accesibilidad no es totalmente buena. todavía, muy recomendable.
Nice lunch for €. Traditional restaurant located in floor. Set menu with choices for all courses. I enjoyed my salad with foie gras and chevre cheese followed by a very good entrecote steak. Lots of locals having the same set.
we thought that some wein tapas were satisfied. our younger waiter was very well known for the Rioja wines also recommended to visit some wineries. fun little place.
