Langenthal is very well-known for design industries, design center and designers education. Cultural life is intense and their Theater is a must. Near the Theater lies an island of XIXth Century charm and identity for Swiss hospitality tradition: Hotel Restaurant l 'Auberge. Simplicity, Swissness in Design, Authenticity are the 3 major ingredients of this magnificent set. Calm and relaxation is part of the deal, brunch is terrific with home made marmalades and 'Berner Zapf ' (la tresse) which is the famous bread from Berne County. Our room was on 3rd floor: attic floor, absolute charm. Welcome to Berne Tradition.
While the country is still in a partial lock down, many connoisseurs are having no other choice than booking a hotel room to be able to eat in a restaurant or, if weather permits, sit outside. The Chef has decided to offer a 5 course menu tonight, along with a selection of local wines! Delicious and unexpected, as he declines to participate in any star rating. We hope the word spreads with this post… and maybe, one day, he will accept also Amex :
This place serves amazing food. Well prepared and the chef cookes every dish with passion. The waiters are on an excellent level and do suggest for each course different wines if you like. They suit perfectly to the food you get. Its a higher priced restaurant but fine dining. I can fully recommend this restaurant for special occasions, business or even if you like to surprize your partner with a nice evening.
Had a group of 10 for a celebration dinner. Each layer of the food and beverage, from starters through entrees and desert were outstanding and accompanied with excellent service from a friendly and highly attentive staff. Some of the entrees that stood out included the swordfish, halibut, and braised brisket. Expensive but worth it for a special evening!
