There is nothing quite like lunch at L 'Auberge Vigneronne. First you have to wind your way up into the hills to find it, then you have to negotiate the slope into the car park. Is it worth the trouble? Absolutely yes! Family run it 's speciality is cooking 'à la broche '. Locally raised poultry turns slowly on a spit over a wood fire while the chef bastes the birds with flaming fat from a 'flambadou '. If you don 't fancy the grill there are always a couple of alternatives, ours was Daube de Sanglier (shot by Madame 's mother-in-law! , cooked to perfection. Menus are 22€ and 27€, there is a real cheeseboard and, on the more expensive menu, a 'fish course ' although I substituted a Cèpe omel...
Certainly one of the department's best addresses. Indeed, recommended by friends, we were not disappointed at all. Already, nothing that the reception is a highlight of this establishment, the owners are very friendly, convenient and understandable, they put you directly in confidence. Then the meal is an orgy of flavors and tastes and a pure treat for your taste buds and stomach both by the quality of the products used, local for the majority, and by the quantity that guarantees you to bring out the belly full and well full! It’s true that this restaurant is off the grid, up in the hills outside of St. Chinian. But once there it is worth every bit of the €22.50 it will cost you for a four course lunch. We went on a Sunday. Make a reservation. Don’t think it will be easy to just walk in and the tables tend to be for 6 or 8 people. There were 6 of us. The lamb cooked on the spit, coq au vin were oh so delicious. All local St. Chinian wines. Can’t wait to return and introduce other friends to this perfectly French country restaurant.
This is a fantastic place to go for Sunday lunch! It is hidden away in a very small hamlet way off the beaten track, but it is well worth finding. The dining room is rustic with a huge fireplace where they roast their homegrown(! chickens in the winter months. Aroma is fantastic! It is not a fancy place but the food is SO good!

We shared a pleasant moment with the outside family. Beautiful service frame. The kitchen is excellent, the chickens are really farmers!!! That's good. Only flat, the trim is relatively low and only a peacock. I recommend this inn 100%.
