There is nothing quite like lunch at L 'Auberge Vigneronne. First you have to wind your way up into the hills to find it, then you have to negotiate the slope into the car park. Is it worth the trouble? Absolutely yes! Family run it 's speciality is cooking 'à la broche '. Locally raised poultry turns slowly on a spit over a wood fire while the chef bastes the birds with flaming fat from a 'flambadou '. If you don 't fancy the grill there are always a couple of alternatives, ours was Daube de Sanglier (shot by Madame 's mother-in-law! , cooked to perfection. Menus are 22€ and 27€, there is a real cheeseboard and, on the more expensive menu, a 'fish course ' although I substituted a Cèpe omel...
