My friend & I came here after work recently to sample some real Thai food in typical small town Rheinland Germany. Having negotiated the back streets to avoid all the lantern parading school kiddies on their St Martin's Day procession I parked right out side the restaurant in the pedestrian zone. The service was friendly and the whole Thai atmosphere inside was very authentic in our opinion. Our Thai waitress spoke both German and English and was polite & helpful in assisting us in choosing from the extensive menu. Last time we were at Lay Thai, we had a guest who just had had surgery and therefore wanted to order a smaller portion of food from the "child menu". Beside our own - quite rich order of starter and main course - our request was rudely neglected by the waitress who then called the owner, which did the same, no child portion of adults allowed.We visit Lay Thai about twice a month, and therefore the owner's reaction was both unpleasant, surprising and unacceptable. We almost had to bribe the waiter to bring use a second (and third) round of beers, but that was the only negative of our evening. He was helpful in bringing the six of us a mix of starters (not the standard mix that was on the menu). Same for main dishes, we let him make most of our decisions - and we were thrilled with he amount and taste. Everyone thought ever dish was outstanding. Go. Enjoy.
After a few days of sauerbraten and schweinhaxe and dumplings, I enjoy coming here for lighter fare. You can't go wrong with a pad Thai and spring rolls. I've had their spicy curries on past trips, but decided to take it easy tonight. Reasonably priced and a nice atmosphere. The outside Biergarten is delightful when the weather is nice.

The place is kind of random and doesn't look fancy but the red curry was amazing!! I didn't enjoy the soup so I'll probably order something else next time but definitely going back for the curry.
The menu was excellent. I don't eat Thai food much but this was very authentic. Various levels of spiciness for all taste buds. If you get tired of traditional German food please try this place..

I have visited multiple times. The food is consistantly well prepared and the staff is polite. Some of the best Thai anywhere.
