Le Beffroi - Reservar una mesa

We booked this traditional hotel in a lovely setting which did not disappoint. However there were disappointments. We were not informed that the hotel would not be opened until 6.30pm (explained after we had been sat outside for well over an hour due to a family issue). Our room was large and airy (we were in Rm 11 at the top) with a large shower room and a small supply of toiletries (but no soap to wash your hands), the towels were rough and appeared old and well used. We were aware that the restaurant was closed that night , and the owner kindly booked a table in another restaurant near by. The following two nights we ate in the hotel restaurant, the first night my husband had the pizza which was tasty and filling. The restaurant menu was limited , but on arrival well presented but very small portions, we left hungry on both occasions and I have a small appetite. We had booked the hotel as it appeared to have a lovely dining room , this was to our disappointment not being used. As for the breakfast what can one say!! One tiny crossiant,and pain au chocolat and a small roll with one pat of butter and one pat of jam, coffee and orange juice. We had better and more filling breakfast in the cheaper hotels we stayed in whilst traveling to Tournan. We had so looked forward to our stay at this hotel , but it did not live up to our expectations . Would we go back? yes as the setting is lovely but we would not eat any meals/breakfast at this hotel.

We had booked for 5 on the day of the Fete. Along with many others we arrived at 12.15. No-one came to offer aoeros, take an order for 45 minutes when a friend found 1 of 2 waitresses. Order given we waited 30 minutes for our starter and then nothing. Some people walked out, we waited another hour until giving up and leaving. No-one came to apologise or even explain. Other diners were getting angry. The waitresses were run off their feet but no-one seemed to be managing. It was dreadful.

There's nothing new in this review and what is written here applies to many restaurants around these parts. The setting was beautiful, the ambience was stylish, the menu was short but comprehensive with an eye for fresh ingredients and the food itself cooked well. The service however was classic French; slow and slightly sullen. You've got to admire the way they always seem to resent your custom.

We visited here for lunch last week and had a fantastic meal sitting outside in the sunshine. We have been here many times over the years although the last trip was 10 years ago but prior to that had several years running. When we visited last October, the place was closed for the end of the season so we were out of luck. We had two courses (main and puddings) and they were very good.

Incredible tastes!!!! Atmosphere of the restaurant was warm, friendly and pleasing to the eye. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Food was incredible!!!!! Bravo!!!!!!!
