Last night had an amazing plateau of fruits de mer, sitting on the decking with a stunning river view. The seafood was very fresh, delicious and nicely presented, lots of brown bread and butter and two mayonnaise a, the aioli was perfect! Staff here are friendly polite and very helpful , and on being told my husband is vegetarian immediately offered a big plate of cheese, a salad and a large portion of home made frites. There is steak on the menu too , which was ordered by the people on the next table and it looked very large and very mouth watering!! For desert we had a simple bowl of really fresh plougastel strawberries with creme fraiche.Booking is advisable and, as parking is quite limit...
We visited here with family including two children 9 and 6 . It is in a wonderful spot and the staff were very welcoming . We sat inside because that’s what I’d booked but the outside terrace looked very inviting . The food was fantastic the boys had sea bream on the menu de enfants with the most amazing home made chips ! The adults had oysters , lobsters ,sea bream and steak and all were excellent .The wine flowed ! The only negative was the speed of service this is not a criticism of the staff but more of the number of staff dealing with such a busy restaurant ! However we would definitely return if we are in the area again !
We used to enjoy going for a nice dinner at Bistrot de l 'ecailler. It used to be good food, good service, and a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately this is no longer the case. The Belon oysters were good. However, it was down hill from there. The Dorade was way over cooked and the French Fries (Chips) were way too 'oily '. The service was so-so for a restaurant half empty on a Saturday night. And we had a view over the parking lot. We won 't be going back.
Plus: lovely setting, terrace appealing, wine list pleasing. Minus: kitchen French fast food. The usual oysters, bulots (Chez Jackie much better). Entrecote and a fish. The doubtlessly charming atmosphere must have misguided Michelin testers into a recommendation. Not worse or better than many thousand similar places in France.
