Le Cafe - Reserva de mesa

Le Cafe Civray offers hands-on sessions where you can learn to bake baguettes, macaroons, croissants (when it's not too warm), pork pies etc. We went along as a family with our 19 year old daughter and her boyfriend. Our session turned into a competitive bake-off with Keith as the judge. A really enjoyable session the morning sped past and we left proudly clutching our endeavours. Keith and Laura are super-friendly and easy to get on with and the home-made pizza provided for lunch while our baguettes were proving was a welcome treat. I'd strongly recommend the cafe for a light bite or a full meal, pies are a bonus for Brits. If you are a family on holiday the baking lesson is a must.

We rediscovered Le Café Civray via Facebook and then their website, where we were impressed by the selection available. So we decided to have a day out in Civray and visit Le Café. We arrived for coffee and sampled their delicious Eccles cakes and Belgium buns, packed with pump raisons, just like in the “good old days”. We purchased a selection of their meat pies, hot cross buns and Eccles cakes to take home with us. After a pleasant stroll around Civray we returned to Le Café for lunch: a gorgeous bacon bap, containing substantial pieces of the most delicious bacon, followed by more of their lovely homemade cakes.

The Cafe at Civray is the ideal stop off for a much needed snack of some sort when you're in town, and whilst you're there, you'll often bump into a crowd of people who you'll want to get to know. The cakes served are varied and always delicious but there's also something more substantial if you need it jacket spuds, all day breakfasts and usually a special of the day. Veggie options are available too which is always a relief. You can go on your own or to join others on a number of regular meetings, maybe take some french lessons and generally, keep well up on important local matters. Totally recommended.

I was looking for somewhere to hold my newly formed Writers Group. Le Cafe was open to the idea and I have been holding my meetings there since 2019. We are always given a warm, friendly greeting. Lovely friendly little place! Great cakes and light meals. The staff couldn’t be more helpful. We also bought some frozen English pies to take home to cook. (You can’t get a good pie in France! There are a lot of groups that meet there, and activities to be had!

Very enjoyable, educational morning spent learning how to make a starter and sour dough. Very pleased with the lesson, looking forward to putting the lesson to use and making bread. Hope it taste half as good as Keith’s.

Donna and co also have a smile for their customers, friendly chat and a great selection of delicious homemade cakes and pies. The cafe is bright and clean and prices are very reasonable. Definitely worth a visit
