on holiday in the French west indie at guadeloupe we have made a day trip to the archipel les saintes with a short boat trip from the south of terre basse. throw a look at the map and they will see that the largest island in. the group les saintes terre de haut. when they come there, then a visit to fort napoleon one has to it just a short distance from the harbour and is really interesting, the leaders are very knowledgeable. but for me was the highlight of our visit to les saintes in cafe de la marine. it was a very hot day and a light meal was really every one of us wanted. I ordered a court of otopus with a long time; in this part of the world oktopus is called chatrous, but I must admit...

We were in Terre De Haut for the day and having spent the morning at the Fort and on Sugar Loaf Beach we headed back into town for some lunch. We arrived just at the end of service and were served a lovely meal of...local fish washed down with a very pleasant bottle of wine. I had a ray wing (skate) which was the best piece of fish I had in two weeks in the Caribbean. Our bill (attached) was 157 euro for the 6 of us less than 20 euro a person for food which we considered good value compared to other meals we had. I am surprised at some of the negative reports as we would happily recommend La Marine for lunch of fresh fish and a great view over the bay. Merci Madam

we advise you in previous opinion R7546. not to go to dinner under curfew in a restaurant that voluntarily limits the number of tables in the evening in order to be able to provide the service at 8 p.m. to your forgotten benevolence, eat a sandwich on the beach your health pass by hand we were there last week and at 8:01 the gendarmerie carried out the first controls. thanks to this restaurant for the quality of the dishes served, for the discretion of its owner and to the large class of its servers/barman/memoire, whose accent of the southwest color this view on the bay alone. Thank you for everything and soon

We showed up about noon. The restaurant was nearly empty. We asked for a table for 5, and were told that the restaurant was full with reservations. Our hostess then told us that we could eat in a small balcony area where there were 2...small tables and another couple already eating. The food was OK. When we left, the restaurant was still mostly empty. Not sure why they wouldn't seat us in the main dining room. If we had felt more welcome, we would have ordered a more robust meal. As it was, we had appetizers and drinks, and gave our money to a more welcoming restaurant down the street.

We have eaten our way across Bourg des Saintes and keep coming back to Cafe de la Marine for lunch. (Evenings they have tapas, not dinner. The fish is always fabulous as is the duck. The staff are friendly and competent. They speak good English.There...is a view of the harbor and the trade winds keep you cool as you eat. It is quiet enough to converse. And the chocolate mousse is the best ever. Not just good, but world-class.

We decided to have a few drinks with a view of the water. Café de la Marine is right on the water and it drinks was cold. We chose to a have some dessert with our drinks. We both agreed on the same desert and...ordered it, but they were out. My friend order a different dessert and we both ate some of it, and it was terrific. The service was okay, but I felt that being American affected the service some.

Right on the water, watch the boats come and go, priceless view. Easy for a cool drink or meal. We had a light lunch, nice salad. Can get busy, service was slow but....we're on island time. Washroom clean. Cute little clothing shop attached.
