This evening we decided to have a good dinner at the restaurant that ranks high in the village where we are renting a home for our holidays.Based on the reviews on TripAdvisor Le Carre Gourmand looked to fit all our requirements. It is within walkin distance and has good reviews. We tried to make a reservation by phone, but outside of opening hours this was apperantly not possible. So we walked to the restaurant hoping they'd have some space left if we were early. Upon arrival we were told that it was fully booked. This left us no choice but to walk back home. While leaving the premise the hostes followed us to ask if we came from a boat. When we told her we did not, she told us that there was a table left. A little puzzled we got ourselfs seated at a nice table. As apperative we choose the house apperative, this was a nice mix of black rum and white wine and some other ingredients. We were of to a nice start. For the entre we chose the truite gravelax and I chose a Homard Blue roti as main dish while my wife chose the turbot sauvage. Our son is more a meat lover, so he chose the Boeuf Charolais. As an appitizer we were served a melon gazpacho. This tasted really good and left us wanting for more. When the entrees were served we were also not disappointed. The Truit was nice and firm and the dish was full of flavour. The big disappointment came when our main dish was served. All in all the dished were well prepared and looked lovely, I felt a bit cheated spending 42 euro on a dish that has such a small amount of that lovely blue lobster. My wifes turbot suffered the same fate, a lot of sauce and very little fish. Lastly my sons dish was to his liking.Overall we felt that the main dishes were severly overpriced when taking the amount of main ingredient into consideration. To finish our dinner we had the Nougat Glace. This was a very nice dessert. Full of flavour and fresh fruits. As a whole we enjoyed the food at Le Carre' Gourmand but consider the main dishes that we had significantly overpriced.
