it was past the hours 22h20 to be exact when we met the caveau des tontons. we have the top of totally unknown natives, but so spontaneous and friendly. the kitchen was closed, Tuesday night is a party day. the owner has decided not to let us go and offered to make tapas with the local sausages and cheese. interesting local weine gamay but matured in oak with this special earthy taste from the volcanic rocks. such a refreshing experience. far away places in the center of france have hidden gems.
stephan and lydie always provide a warm welcome, whether for a quiet lunch or a glowing Rockabilly evening with live 'lift the dach off' music. eating is very high quality and despite this being the auvergne, lydie will always find something for my non-meat...essing woman! stephan is a talented advisor, and his wein recommendations are always pleasant. a great place for a truly original experience.
I can't complain about the quality of the food and drink here at all. I had the ohio burger with a warm sweet side that was delicious and my partner got the salad of the tonton that was just beautiful. with craftsmanship and. after a divine orio Meringée dessert, this place has crossed all crates for culinary satisfaction. too reasonable.
They have an Elvis theme going on here. Kinda strange for downtown Riom. Very nice atmosphere and good solid lunch/dinner place. Prices are reasonable. Not much English spoken. But they have a daily chalk board for the menu and you can point to what you...want.
