After reading TA reviews, we were excited about having lunch and a drink in this establishment. We went inside and were pointed towards the tables on the grass, by the gent behind the bar. Sat for 15mins admiring the view, before getting up to speak to the waitress. Then told they don 't serve food on the lawn (despite 3 other tables eating main meals out there) so we were moved on to the outside deck. Then sat for another 10-15mins before the waitress came back to pop placemats and cutlery before us. No menus, no query what we would like to drink. Another 15mins went by, so I went to the bar to ask for a menu and how do we order. Was told someone would come and was sent back outside. Why we didn 't leave then, I don 't know. 5-10mins later, we were given menus. Waiter then disappeared. Eventually put in our order, waited another 10mins for our drinks. Wine was plonked on the table hard and was spilled on me/the table when passing it over my shoulder. Hoping the meals would be worth it after reading reviews, we waited 20-30mins for food to be served. Hubby 's pork ribs were tasty. My 'well done ' steak was still very red inside. Could only eat a very small amount of the outside. Very disappointing meal in the Alps. Feel like I 've eaten at another establishment to other reviewers, after our experience today??
If you are driving from Chamonix to Annecy, then instead of the main highway, take this route. It is on a mountain peak in a beautiful picturesque location with meadows and mountains all around. We asked for vegetarian food and were served with Duo Brebis and dessert. The food was the best we had had in France. The lady were lovingly made us feel at home and met our culinary needs inspite of the language challenge. She told that we were her first guests from India, and we were justifiably proud to be! Don't miss this place and locale if you are around this side.
If you're ever in Col de Aravis, stop and get a delicious authentic home cooked meal of the region at Chalet Savoyard. The tartiflette, fondue, and a variety of platters which are served with delicious potato pancakes, and fresh cheeses are quite pleasant after a days hike. And the scenery is spectacular. Highly recommend this restaurant for fresh regional specialties.
