The restaurant is situated on the square opposite the imposing church, and during the day it's pleasant to sit outside and watch the world go by - sometimes a wedding even. In the evening you go inside and to the back to a pleasant restaurant, clean and neatly set out. There is a good range of choice, and the prices are really quite reasonable for the quality of food, wine and service. We had white asparagus in a creamy sauce for starter, and it was done to perfection. For mains we opted for lamb cutlets - again cooked as requested, though I'd have preferred rice or potato to fries. The woman who runs the place is polite and smiling, very efficient, I think. As well as British people dining there from a nearby hotel, there are French couples and families. It's all relaxed, a pleasant atmosphere. We paid just over 60 euros for two courses, two half bottles of good wine and coffee.
Arrived before noon and had a quick coffee. We decided to have lunch and I asked if we could stay in the bar area to eat as we were sitting by the window, it was nice there. This was refused and we were taken through into the back into an overcrowded, hot, stuffy little room with noisy children and a dog for goodness sake. We were hungry and decided to give it a go. The egg mayonnaise was tasty, the terraine was not, the carbonara was bland with over cooked pasta, the ham gnocchi too was bland. The apple tart and cream was tasteless. The pitchet of red wine was lovely and the lager nice and cold. We were not given water like the other tables nor did anyone ask us if the meal was ok. We went back through to the bar to pay, there were others eating in there and there was plenty of room, not sure why we were refused.
We started in the main square and walked around town looking for a nice restaurant to have a drink and our evening meal, and then came back here and sat outside for a drink. The menu is simple but the meals being served looked good - they were - my steak and frites was just the ticket. Good value too.We'd go back.
