My husband and I have been to this restaurant several times during the past 15 years. Why? Because of the well prepared and presented meal, the nice wines, and of course the service. The Chef is a Chef... with a big C , and his wife doing the service is always ready to help, and have a talk when she 's got time for it. The environment is pleasant, especially at this time of the year, as we can sit outside, next to a beautiful garden. We really appreciate the Cuisine of the place. That 's, of course, why we keep going back to the place. And we do appreciate that the Chef comes out of the kitchen, when all the guests have been served, and asks each table/guest how the meal was. When, guided by the Chef's wife, attentive, you cross this large building to reach the terrace in the back, you have the impression that time stopped. Few tables on shaded plates; a garden observes you below, benevolent of greenery. Certainly you are not in a common place but in a confidential, almost intimate place. The kitchen is perfect, worked, without ostentation but with great elegance. Dressage is applied as a certainty and flavors always reveal, slowly, with precision. Beautiful experience that this atypical place, don't wait for a great time but enjoy these moments where the kitchen seduces you over a suspended time.
Many praiseworthy superlatives could be used to try to define Bernard Bordaries' cuisine. They would be all welcome, so the quality is high, because the chef takes us very far in perfection, from the simplest to the most sophisticated. The palate gives the tone of joy: unexpected and exquisite. There is no extravagance or eccentricity: only of justness. Precise tastes, tasty, refined associations and permanent discoveries. If gastronomy is an art and art is a language that, by knowledge, its poetry, its aesthetic causes emotions then Bernard Bordaries is a very great artist.
nous avons trés bien mangé ici sur la terrace. Le chef Bernard est excellent et sa femme a été trés gentille. Menu interessant et on s est tous regalés. Another fantastic meal here at Le Clos de Monteils. Madame was very kind and the service was very good, chef Bernard's cooking is so fine using fresh local ingredients with imagination.
