"Went for lunch on a Tuesday. Not a big choice but what we ate was sublime. Lovely unusual take on the Crème Brûlée. Service second to none too. Highly recommend!"

So the good bits Some really good food. 64 degree egg with pork belly; hake with a bramble sauce; pork medallions. All extremely well cooked, nicely presented and well served. It's just there's something lacking, especially after so many gushing reviews on Tripadvisor, and failing to be able to book four times over the course of just over a month had built up expectations. Your heart sinks when the nightly menu is laminated it's obviously repeated over and over again. The decor inside is functional but dated a bit like the pork medallions. Beautiful meat, nicely presented, but obviously sous vide with an intense sauce. All the rage 15 years ago. The cooking seemed to lack a modern sparkle, a little joie de vivre. This may well be because the restaurant is popular with the local British population why change a winning formula? In summary, a perfectly competent meal in a nice restaurant, and not bad value at 82€ for two, but it's just lacking that certain something. It's not the best restaurant the area, arguably even not the best in Jonzac.

This is a very nice restaurant. They speak excellent English. We enjoyed our meal sitting outside on a Monday for lunch. It’s a pre fix menu with a few choices. For the appetizer we opted for the “seafood “. My husband liked it better than I did, because it tasted like squid to me. For the main course, we picked the Merlu. It was a wonderful white fish course. For dessert, the fruit cheesecake. We also had a 50 CL of rose wine. It was also very tasty. Our meals totaled 30 E for both of us. We can highly recommend eating here if you ever find yourself in Jonzac.

The food here is marvellous. There isn't a huge choice but what they serve is superbly cooked and leaves you wondering when you can next visit. The three course meal costs €29 and 50cl of a good house rose wine was €9. Lunch is excellent value too. The two young ladies serving were excellent, being friendly, polite and efficient, with not a Gallic shrug in sight, unlike one or two other restaurants in the town. The restaurant is well decorated and clean. You will not be disappointed.
