Le Darnetal - Reservar una mesa

We came here on Bastille Day with high expectations. the premises themselves are somewhat dated, but kind of cutesy and the dining room is somewhat cramped. The staff are polite and business like. For starter my wife had a plate of oysters with a champagne sauce - she said the oysters were fine, but the warm sauce was a bit of a let down. I had a Crab Grayin, which was quite watery and very underseasoned. For mains my wife had a fish mixture is a creamy sauce, and I had a steak, both dishes also being underseasoned.I had higher expectations - the food was edible, but it is clear that the chef does not taste and adjust his seasoning, but we did not see the opportunity to excel to be present there. Disappointing, we rate it only average

Relieved to find this typically French restaurant after a disappointment previously. The service was very good and the food excellent. Not horrendously expensive either. Beware if visiting Montreuil that a lot of the restaurants are closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

I write this in english to our english visitors (french Montreuillois already know it.) The Restaurant Le Darnétal is one which reminds me much of small country restaurants in south England. Exquisite mutton in gravy sauce, delicious desserts. A must !

We had booked a table from England and the owner spoke very good English, so we felt very comfortable. The meal was absolutely wonderful as it always is.

This husband and wife set up is fantastic. Have the kidneys and sweetbreads in particular. Great service and happy staff.
