I stumbled onto this lovely little cafe on a Saturday afternoon just a few short blocks from the Movenpick Hotel. With the help of the hostess, whose English was far better than my French, I ordered couscous, the special of the day. It was magnificent! I was served a soup tureen filled with stewed potatoes, carrots, onions and other vegetables in a delicious broth, along with a bowl of steaming couscous and two skewers of tender grilled lamb over a plate of roasted chickpeas, golden raisins and fresh figs. Each dish was served piping hot and cooked to perfection! I finished this feast with coffee and a small sample of delicious Algerian pastries. The hostess was also my waitress; her service...
When we come to the Figuier we know what to expect: here we are with family, it is the kitchen of the house, the canteen of the neighborhood. The welcome is warm, sincere, the kitchen is more than correct for a price that is as much. Point of chichis, we're between us and, cherry on the cake: The team will not hesitate to fill you if you know how to be a little patient at the peak time! The fig tree: a more than friendly restaurant where all languages and cultures mix, meet, for the greatest pleasure of all and our stomachs!...
Visited after reviewing Trip Advisor for a suitable restaurant. The owner made us very welcome and explained the menu. We took a meal recommended of cous cous, meats and accompanying stew. Delicious meal and made a change from the usual fare normally eaten. Not pretentious, plenty of alternative dishes to delight.
