We arrived with a young child at around nine pm without a reservation. It was immediately apparent that the manager didn't want to install us on the terrace, and the only table which was offered to us was close to the parking lot -- the hasty excuse given to us was that the tables on the terrace were "reserved". When I asked about one table in particular I was told that it had been specifically requested by customers who were to arrive shortly. This turned out not to be the case. In fact nobody else turned up at the restaurant at all. Meanwhile no excuses or apologies given. I should say that the practice of holding back better tables can be fairly common in France. But not to fabticate a story when pressed is unpleasant particularly when it's so transparent. The food was average as was the price: a set menu for €27.50. Slow service -- it took ages to bring us a "mise-en-bouche" and the kitchen was clearly having trouble keeping up although the place was only about half full. Tuna fish average -- smallish portion. Duck average. Profiteroles nothing special. There are other options close by where for the same price one gets not only better service, but a better deal and a more refined cuisine.
It was today, a Monday in december, we did a check on our house in Vaison (and had to bring some stuff) and we thought about lunch, but on a Monday? but this restaurant, that we also visited this summer (nice shady terrace), was open for lunch! We had a very very good fresh homemade diner and the service was impeccable. We only knew this from the terrace, but also inside it is very nice decorated. We hope to return very soon! We had a wonderful meal here for a group of 8 on our last night together in Provence. We sat outside on the terrace which turned out to be perfect, even on a warm evening in July. The staff was incredible. We all tried to speak french but they didn't mind our horrible accents as they couldn't have been lovelier. The presentation of the food was terrific and very tasty. Everyone was so happy that our last night was here. This was the type of place that everyone had in mind.
Just come home after a superb meal with lovely wine. Our favourite resto for an excellent evening out. You feel full when you leave although it doesn't look much on the plate, it's delicious. Anyone who doesn't rate this restaurant must be mad...or delusional. Gnocchi with truffles, perfectly cooked scallops, creme brulee with cinnamon. All gorgeous.
