This local bar has been going for ever but more recently introduced a restaurant serving basic food: steak, pizza, duck. There is a set menu or you can choose à la carte, half a pizza with salad. Food is very good value for money, portions enormous so good for those with great appetites. The best thing is that it has a fantastic atmosphere, especially in the summer when the place is buzzing with activity and people of all ages and nationalities. The owner and his family are all here, hugely energetic always cheerful and seemingly work non stop from early morning to early the next morning. Initially we were not intending to eat at Le Helder but when we went to view the menu the welcome we received caused us to change our minds and we enjoyed a very good meal. The restaurant is obviously used by the locals some just having a drink and others were also eating and this all added to the atmosphere and at the end of the mael we were agreed that we had made the right choice in deciding to eat here. The only slight downside was that the choice of wine was limited to a choice of one red or one white but fortunately they were both drinkable!
Unbelievable! What a change at Le Helder! An enormous terrace, buzzling from morning coffee till late. You still have the opportunity to order just a beer or pichet of the pleasant local wine, but you can also go two steps further! A real wine list and luxury wine glasses, perfect frites and meat from the grill...and the master piece is the Côte de boeuf of 1.000 gram!! Whatever you want, it is all ok to the owner and staff.
Visited several times during our recent stay in Cessenon. This is a typical French bar with lots of outside seating on the square opposite the church and seems popular with both locals and visitors. From early morning coffees to late night drinks the atmosphere is buzzy and the staff efficient and friendly. The ice cream sundaes are pure works of art. Have visited five times in our ten day stay in Cessenon. Every time we received a warm welcome and enjoyed good natured banter with the wonderful staff, especially when attempting our French! The boss man couldn’t have done more to make us feel at home. Yesterday evening all four of us had the steak which was probably the best we’ve ever had in France and the ice cold draught Heineken isn’t bad either! Thank you.
