I have several times noticed the Lion d’Or when walking around the pretty little town of St Geniez d’Olt and thought it looked attractive and a nice place to lunch so this time I tried it. On a very hot day we ate outside the terrace, a nice area immediately outside the large smart but on this occasion empty dining room. It was pleasant, shady and comfortable They had a series of menus from the menu de jour at €16 to a menu gourmand at €36. We had a midpriced one. I have never stayed in the Hotel only eaten in their restaurant, which I have to say is splendid. A Parisian friend of mine who ate there said it was trying to be to fancy for a local restaurant but I disagree. I've been eating here for ten years and the food has always been freshly cooked and theirs always plenty of choice on the menu. It serves up local dishes like Aligot and sausage but also has a fine a la carte menu. The plat du jour price is around 13 Euro for a three course meal with a carafe of wine or you can have the à la carte which also served in the evening. The staff are friendly and very efficient at their jobs. Definitely a place to put on your eating out list if your ever in...

We arrived here without doing our normal research. The restaurant was empty when we arrived but soon filled up with mostly locals, which is always a good sign. We had the gourmand menu, 35 euros . You can have frog legs or snow snails. I stuck to fish, my husband had the foie Graz, followed by the beef. All excellent. F or pudding I h as d the Cafe Gourmand - a bit of everything, plus cafe. The 'll e Mon sorbet was to f ie f2f or, creme brulee, fabulous. Great for all th family.

Really enjoyed eating here. Expected a nice meal due to reviews and the taste, choice, presentation, ingredients and great friendly service didn't disappoint at all. Well done for keeping us happy band of Irish and Canadian food lovers very happy.

Had an amazing 4 course meal with my parents. The garden is nice and our table was in the shade. Very pleasant waitress and extremely reasonable prices for the quality of the food served. I highly recommend the Golden Lion!

Fabulous €23 menu (four courses) with a bottle of local rose wine at €14. We ate in the garden which was lovely. Attentive staff.
