Four of us took the 4 course 43.50 Euro dinner menu. Having taken lunch here a couple of years ago I was interested to compare what was a very enjoyable midday meal to what was on offer for dinner. A wonderfully tasty amuse buche of...pickled turnip commenced the meal which was followed by an excellent mackerel dish as a starter. One slight disappointment was the 'fish of the day ' which was an unidentified white fish served with an inedible tough skin. Surely a Michelin star chef would recognise such a thing and either do something to rectify the texture of the skin in order to make it edible, or simply serve the dish without the skin attached? This was the one major downpoint throughout a...

a michelin restaurant? a warm, smiling reception.? a dining room that wow on this wise is looking forward to. attentive service by a confident person/team? imaginative taste combinations beautifully presented? in le mascaret the day we went, there was a lukewarm welcome from a teenager. do his best; a dining room that can best be called bland (the French word is 'fade', which with lard rhymes) a symphony of white withl light gray highlights; service lacked sparkles and a meal, which was ok but nothing special. a three cursor meal for 25€ in a michelin restaurant is exceptional, especially if they try to come back and m. hardy's menus up the price class. what we have was quite normal. first c...

We were somewhat surprised to find the restaurant open the day after Christmas, we probably explains why we ate alone in the dining room. Despite being the only customers for much of the evening, the service was never suffocating, we were given space, but we...never felt abandoned. The decor is a bit fussy but still modern, and the tables felt intimate. The food was really superlative. From the mise en bouche of pumpkin and pesto, to the gorgeous calamari and scallops in the entree, perfectly cooked veal for the main and this beautiful chestnut and passionfruit desserts. The cheese plate was the local livarot, you need to like it to appreciate it! The accompanying bread was beautiful, at som...

When I looked online and saw the menu, I couldn't believe the prices. A Michelin starred lunch at €25? The same price as the bistro 5 minutes away? No reason not to book! Finally we went for dinner and the 5 course tasting menu. Fresh...flavors. 5 courses with plenty to eat without feeling stuffed at the end of the meal. True, there aren't tons of side veggies as some have noted, but there is more than enough to eat. And the bread... Homemade, with homemade butter, jams, chutneys, salts, honeys... Yes, I could have made a meal of the bread but then I would certainly have felt stuffed. The service is top of the line. Michelin gave them a star, so nothing surprising. The silverware is surprisi...
