I’ve been coming to Verbier since 1975 and I’ve had many a “croute au fromage” (a seemingly basic bread and melted cheese dish that, when well made, gives you immense satisfaction). Well, let me say that the Mayentzet’s “croute rustique”, is by far, the best one I’ve had. As flavorful and lusty as you’d want any melted cheese dish to be. They use local whole rye bread, a sort of speck like smoked ham and Verbier cheese. All this, served by the friendliest staff (Mme. Anna at our table) in the cutest Swiss alpine setting. The only problem is having to ski back down afterwards!
The restaurant is located on ski slope a bit aside from the main skiing area. We didn't have a reservation (although it's uncommon to have a reservation in ski restaurant but waiter welcomed us and found the table. Our plan was just to have a quick lunch and we considered to take a daily offer ... until we saw fondue on few tables : We picked Deer Fondue and it was just great! The waiter was young and very polite girl. I can say, this restaurant can compete with many other more expensive restaurants in Verbier village. Highly recommend!
This is a quaint Swiss style restaurant half way up the hill in Verbier. It is a great location for bikers for lunch (and no doubt for skiers in the winter). We had the daily special beef tartare and it was really tasty. We saw other guests having Fondue Chinoise and it looked absolutely fantastic. Portions were very generous. Highly recommended.
This is our favourite final stop at the end of the day of skiing. The staff are lovely and we have always felt very welcomed. For a fantastic lunch, the venison fondu is spectacular. It has retained a wonderful alpine charm and is frequented mainly by the Swiss. A very easy ski down at dusk either to Medran or Brunet. Just lovely! Reserva una mesa ahora
We are on the terrace with a nice view. The restaurant is small and can get a little stuffy inside. The food is standard mountain fare presented and cooked well and priced reasonably making it good value for Verbier. I had the polenta which was excellent and others had soup and pasta. Service was good and staff friendly.
We visited this place twice on the way down on our rented scooters. Nice place, but we couldn't get food from the kitchen as it was already closed. The second time, the staff was friendlier than the first time. Not much wrong with this place, but it's also not surprisingly great.
