Le Medieval - Reservar una mesa

This restaurant was a delightful find in the medieval village of Saint Macaire, tucked away down a side street. We went in for a quick lunch and chose the menu at 13euro50, starter and main course and were more than pleasantly surprised. The starter was...a cold buffet with a great choice to suit all tastes, artichokes, asparagus, mushrooms in a sauce, pate, olives, rillettes, carrots and if you wanted something hot, there was a lovely fish soup with croutons and cheese. Then on to the main course magret de canard, with piping hot chips and then the surprise this was accompanied by a puree of celeriac and a separate dish of swiss chard in a white sauce with cheese. My wife and I decided to make a detour to Saint Macaire during our wine trip to Bordeaux. We stumbled on “Le Medieval” and really enjoyed it. The staff was excellent for culinary details. My wife chose Lamproie a la Bordelaise during... I went for one of her “Menus Dégustations” when I wanted an opportunity to taste so many things from her “terroir”. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the prices are very competitive for the level.

pure chance we found this place, looking for a hotel we stayed here, so decided to eat in the 'in house ' restaurant Le Medieval had a table on the terrace in front of the hotel (it 's more a restaurant than a hotel) Great food,...very reasonable, all local produce, well presented, many went for the seafood buffet but we chose a la carte, we were not disappointed. La patronne was very friendly and very helpful.

Wonderful setting in a shaded terrace. Great buffet selection of seafoods and salad. Salmon was exceptional! Service very prompt and friendly
