We were quite keen to eat Tajines and booked to go to the Medieval (much to the surprise of our B & B host). When we got there, we were warmly welcomed. We placed our orders and then the waitress came back and said we couldn't have any tajine, only Couscous or brochettes. LIkewise, they didn't have the drinks we ordered. So, we re-ordered bochette and couscous and a new round of drinks. A bit more to-ing and fro-ing and we finally got the order in. It was pretty frustrating to see things on the menu and then be told no. It might have just been easier to say what we could order. As another reviewer pointed out, the vegetarian couscous was definitely stewed in meat. So, at this point, it was all a bit grim. However, the couscous was delicious (and we aren't vegetarian so didn't mind the stew) and the brochette were absolutely delicious. Didn't have starters or dessert as it was hard enough to get main courses. It was all a little odd.The food arrived quickly and they did apologise for the problems and they gave us drinks on the house for the frustration. It was a Sunday night and they said they just didn't have the stock in from market. But if you aren't too fussed about eating what you ordered, the food was very good.

My wife and 4 kids were staying in an apartment across from St. Pierre Church in the lower part of town for one night. Around dinner time, we started our way towards the centre of town, assuming that's where we'd need to go to find a restaurant. But instead we came across this charming little restaurant just around the corner from our apartment. Great Moroccan food, pleasant atmosphere and gracious hosts (owner/father cooked the food and his delightful 12-year old daughter served us). Food was delicious and portions very large. Even my children, who had never eaten Moroccan food before loved it and said it was their favourite meal in France! If you're ever in Chartres and looking for something a little different, outside the main part of town, check this place out - you'll love it!

Stopped off whilst passing Chartres on route for the ferry. Very pleased to have found this place - openly lunchtime on Sunday (but very quiet) the welcome couldn't have been friendlier. The decor leaves something to be desired but the welcome was warm and the couscous was excellent. Also terrific value for money - 1 adult and 2 kids ate for just €33 including soft drinks. We were even given a free cup on mint tea and some Turkish delight to finish off. Very close to the cathedral so if you are passing Chartre definitely worth a try.

While most people aren't vegetarian and wouldn't understand, I ordered couscous vegetarian which said it had raisins in it. I was also given veggies in a stew. No raisins but they gave me the curled milk. I asked to make sure it was just veggies in the veggie pot. They assured me it was. I found a big hunk of meat in it. I gave some of it to my son. My mums meal was also vegetarian, it came out as meat balls. She didn't mind. Avoid his place like the plague. Who knows what you are eating!
