It was my wife’s birthday and we picked the restaurant based on the reviews from Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. The décor is very country wine style. The outside at night was glowing blue lights with a ranch feel. Had a cat run up to us to greet us. They had cows and horses on the hotel land. We had foie Gras salad and a local soup as an Appetizer. Superb!!! Then I had fish (Zander) (basically Walleye) with amazing vegetables and sides. My wife had a pastry style chicken dish. Very hearty and filling. The wonderful people brought her a birthday platter with a flaming candle on top. The whole experience was great. I would like to mention must have reservations. In the 9 years we've been frequenting the idyllic Auberge Melkerhof, we've always enjoyed excellent food, rapid service and a very warm welcome. The extensive winelist caters to all tastes. At weekends, and in the week, the Melkerhof is buzzing with French customers and those who've travelled from further afield. Our only criticism of Melkerhof, which is indeed a compliment, is that unless you book early it's not always easy get in. High up above Thannenkirch in the Vosges forests, Auberge Melkerhof is a great base for hikers and a piece of paradise in Alsace. We always look forward to our next visit. If you're lucky enough to get a reservation, make sure you're in first gear when you drive...
Très bel endroit joliment décoré dans un esprit alsacien. Les repas servis sont généreux et bien préparés. Le service irréprochable et professionnel car le personnel est aux petits soins pour le client avec le sourire et la gentillesse en plus. J'y reviendrai sans hésiter.
We came from Belgium to spend a three-day stay with, a warm welcome, large and super clean rooms, food is a feast and the place in itself is simply great. It is a place that makes you want to come back to discover it in all seasons. We recommend this facility

Excellent address. Very warm and attentive welcome. For the plate all products are fresh and quality with a beautiful wine card, fast service. Quiet and pleasant environment. We will return as soon as we can. I recommend you not to be disappointed.
Tres belle decouverte nests in a bowl. Warm atmosphere, cozy decor, excellent food and friendly service! Nice attention to the anniversary of my companion. I'd definitely go back to the Melkerhof!
