"Yes it's in off a Carrefour parking lot and yes it's an old house, but the meal and service were awesome. Classic, classy French cooking with a little seafood flare (given where it is at Baie de Somme). Owner chef and front service. I'd recommend reservations for it was full Friday, October 3 for dinner locals. Wide varied menu for each course. Large selection of aperitifs, cocktails, and digestifs, but not a lot of wines. Excellent service."

With eager anticipation we started our short October break with a return dinner at Le Moulin. Noting one of us spoke fluent French, a main course request to put the sauce on the side a part was not only noted but understood by the waitress. The skate arrived in its own little soup......... OK not a problem we requested a different dish but back came a skate this time and rather quickly still floating in a soup but a different soup this time a ratatouille sauce. Given the original request was clear and was clearly understood the waitress said, yes, she told the chef so she summoned the chef. On arrival the chef stated he had not received the request to put sauce on the side and if he had he would have said it was not possible. Despite having eaten only a starter we were charged for a full 3 course prix fixe menu ....... and we tried to kickstart our break elsewhere. So not really that great this time and of course why would we return shame in a way but life is too short

I have not always found eating out in France quite as reliable as I might hope but we had a wonderful meal at the Moulin. as other reviewers have pointed out it isn't in the most prepossessing location, but the food was very good, the service friendly and the surroundings relaxed and comfortable. It's a bit rustic in both style and presentation, but I'd rather have tasty food than well presented but badly cooked food any day. They were particularly good with our young children, most French restaurants I've been to have an absolutely abysmal offering for children, but here our children were able to eat small versions of adult food which they enjoyed greatly, and it was lovely to be complimented on their behaviour and good eating (not something they always warrant to be fair... . we stay in St Valery quite frequently as a good stopping off point before and after the channel, I wish we'd started using the Moulin earlier, will definitely be back.

Miles out of St Valery? 3 minutes drive Hard to find? It 's in the Carrefour car park (it got there first of course! Feels like a country restaurant, cuisine fait maison Actually is a great value cosy, country restaurant, great dishes not in the local, Moules mode and a super range of reasonable fixed price menus plus kiddie choices too! The wine is very reasonable....very We had always missed Le Moulin but popping in to the Carrefour it always looked like you want to be inside PLEASE NOTE weekly closing, Tuesday evening, all day Wednesday, so if in doubt just call 03 22 60 85 86 The service was lovely and we didn 't see the chef but dropped in for a coffee the day after and he remembered us!! Lovely people and it really deserves that very small journey out of St Valery............it really is much more the traditional French style bistro than the rest of St V!!!

Last week we went to Le Moulin, for the second time. First time was a year ago. We enjoyed our meal, everything tasty and nice presented. They have some menus to choose from and a fast menu at noon. The resto is very busy, so without a reservation, you have to be lucky to find a table. It is just a pity, we could not eat outside. Last year, we were told too, it was not possible to use the terrace. And we think that the portions are a bit smaller, than last year. But we had still enough. Parking is no problem, because you can use the big parkinglot of the Carrefour, nearby.
