Le Saint Germain

I will definitely come back to this nice little restaurant. It is not what you would expect. I expected a simple bistro but it is a little bit more. Good food, nice presentation, nice staff, relaxed atmosphere, good value for money. The restaurant was packed wih locals for the Tuesday lunch. That is always a good sign. If you are in the area go and stop over for lunch...take a nice glass of Saint-Veran, it will be worth your while. At 13 euros for the daily menu how can it not be.

They clearly work hard, service is good, etc. However, the food just isn't up to much. They know how to source the ingredients, the problem seems to be in combining and blending them together in a harmonious fashion (cookery). The price was quite high for what we got and I frankly could not recommend this restaurant unless nothing else was open and you were desperate. I will be polite and give it 3 stars but I think 2 stars would not be out of order.

This was the only restaurant open on a Monday evening. This casual eatery on the main square served much the same menu as the more upmarket hotel restaurant (but at the same prices). The menu was mainly traditional french fare with a local wine list. Not bad, but pricey for the venue and quality of food.

a typical restaurant. The salade 'chèvre chaud' was very delicious. Any time I visit France I eat it...the rest of the menu was average but ok
