Firstly, I have been to Le Voltaire many times - 7 in fact and I have loved the food every time and the service has always been adequate. At the beginning of the month, my partner and I stopped for a glass of wine. Again experience was lovely. We paid and walked down towards the Eiffel Tower for approximately 5 minutes before realising we had left our shopping of expensive perfume tucked underneath the table outside. My partner sprinted back which took about 60 seconds to retrieve the shopping but found that when he entered the restaurant (at this point only 6 minutes had elapsed since leaving it there) our perfumes had been lined up on the counter ready for people to take their pickings. Not only had they been taken out of the bag but taken out of their boxes. The boxes were in the bin along with the bag with receipts and little tokens I'd saved from that day which had a lovely helping of dirty napkins and sauce. Now, I'm a logical woman, if we hadn't returned at all then by all means but the fact that we hadn't been more than 6 minutes before they opened our shopping in front of the other customers suggests a immoral and vulture - like attitude. My partner had money in his hand to offer them as a thank you before he saw the state of our shopping but when he asked why our belongings were in the bin, they couldn't look him in the eye and just retrieved the things from the rubbish, pushing it in his direction. If I were the owner, I'd look on CCTV at the staff's behaviour. Unfortunately, it's spoilt a tradition for me and I won't go back again.
