L'ecume Des Jours

We were looking for a nice dinner to round off a wonderful few days in Roscoff and chose L'Ecume des Jours partly because our other possible choices were closed that week. Unfortunately, we were disappointed in several aspects of the evening. The service was very slow, and while much of that was undoubtedly due to the kitchen front of house did not help by taking an age to even give us the menus. Having said that, our young server was personable and helpful, unlike one of his older colleagues. After more than an hour and a half we had not received our main courses. The food itself was no more than adequate; my hake was rather insipid and the pork also uninspiring, as were the desserts. Overall, hard to recommend and there are better places in town.

My starter was huitres well you can’t go wrong with that! My main was merlu (hake) beautifully cooked, accompanied by a creamy sauce, crushed potatoes and a selection of small cut vegetables. Delicious! Carafe of white wine was lovely and lunch ended with an espresso. The service was excellent, overseen by Jean Luc who I remembered from 3 years ago when he was at Quai des Isles in St Pol de Leon. From just this one visit I think the food and service was on a par with my favourite restaurant Les Alizes (which is almost next door) and I’ll certainly be back.

Went on a Saturday night at short notice. What can I say? Lovely welcome, excellent service and excellent food opted for the Plat du Port). We will be back! Could not recommend enough!

Our first visit. Excellent cuisine served al fresco by attentive staff. Quality region produce cooked and presented in an innovative style. Highly recommended
