I drove all the way from Oshawa to the Ajax location to pick up my order. When I got to the counter and told the staff my name, he checked my order before I paid, and it was still wrong! When I pointed out the mistake, he got upset, and it seemed like they had to make my actual order from scratch because I ended up waiting quite a while. Eventually, he came out with my food in one bag, which was supposed to contain ten doubles and three chicken rotis. Once I got to my car, I thought I’d double-check the doubles, and to my surprise, there were only eight! So, I went back inside to inform him about the missing items. We had such a nice time here! The service is great, super friendly and welcoming. Great selection of trini sodas and snacks too. I got the dark chicken dhalpuri roti, it was huge and very cost effective. I would recommend the small size if you’re not super hungry. The roti was juicy and had a great texture. The medium spice is not spicy at all tho, which was very surprising for a trini restaurant… I think they should turn up the spice OR get ur roti spicy if u want a kick (but I doubt it’d be seriously spicy still). They sell pepper sauce and it’s quite nice. I would return!
AMAAAAAAZING goat curry in dahlpourie, jerk chicken with rice and chow mein omg delish.. Wow! The queen who took my order was lovely, friendly, wanted us to enjoy our food and gave us suggestions on what to order and made us feel very welcome. She even gave us some polouri on the house to try!! Such a great time at Lena's, and will definitely be coming back. Lena's Roti is truly exceptional! The food is remarkable, the service is friendly, and the place is spotless—all set in a charming location in Ajax. I can't believe I just discovered this hidden gem a few months ago. The atmosphere at Lena's Roti is fantastic. On our first visit, my friend and I had an absolutely delightful experience. My experience at Lena’s Ajax is a hit or a miss. Today it was a complete miss. I ordered bone in curry chicken with paratha, I received boneless, watery curry chicken with burnt dry paratha that left my stomach upset.I purchased nuts which tasted very stale and was most likely expired. I’m assuming that’s why they are offering buy three packs at a discount.WASTE OF MONEY ?
I had what was probably the worst roti I've ever tasted. It was incredibly goopy and mushy, and the amount of grease was off the charts. When I tried to pick it up, it fell apart in my hand and ended up at the bottom of the bag. The doubles were just as bad—really unappetizing. I ended up throwing it away and have no intention of returning.
My go-to spot to get doubles in Durham. This is the first place I’ve seen chicken, shrimp or goat offered IN the double along with the normal channa. I’ve tried both chicken and shrimp and they’re fabulous. I would absolutely recommend this place with the small suggestion for you to order ahead, if you can. Wait times can be a bit long.
