Winter menu at Lenclume. Happy new year folks and here`s my first report of 2012. Lenclume and the Winter menu.I originally planned to take my son he`s 15 for a little `light` lunch down in Cartmel....it turned out to be a 16 course cracking meal. Chef Simon Rogan i was told was taking a hard earned xmas break with his family and Mark Birchall was at the stove as Lenclumes Head chef. Mark has just returned from his Roux scholarship prize of 3 months working at El cellar de Can Roca in Spain.Watch out for some exciting treats once he gets back into the swing of things in chilly west Cumbria. Here`s the 16 courses Crispy Duck Scratchings. Onion , Cheese wafers Oyster Pebbles Carrot Pork Sacks...

L’Enclume to reach is an adventurous as it is not just a stone's throw from the center of london. the journey is more than worth. the lake district is stunning and the entire L’Enclume experience is certainly one to remember (and in any case one that you want to repeat! . we decided to stay in our own accommodation of the restaurant which is conveniently located in the small village center of cartmel. I couldn't recommend it anymore! the rooms are simple but comfortable, suitable rustic and very cozy. the next morning the room included a nice breakfast in rogan and company, which proved to be the perfect way to finish our stay. concerning dinner, L’Enclume was perhaps the most pleasant and t...

It is fitting as we reach the century blogpost milestone that it belongs to a special restaurant. Much has been written about L’Enclume, the flagship Simon Rogan restaurant that sits in the charming village of Cartmel. As well as being the 100th post it was also the venue for Mrs Noms birthday back in December, I can’t reveal her age though as I risk not being able to finish this post otherwise! The booking was made months in advance, increasing the anticipation as the date drew nearer. L’Enclume holds two Michelin stars and scored a rare perfect ten alongside topping the charts in the Good Food Guide 2014. The drive to the village of Cartmel takes you on a journey from urban to rural, leavi...

L’Enclume was the main reason for the trip in november. a five-hour drive from my home in surrey to cartmel is not a mean evening, especially for someone suffering from travel disease. I accuse my weak inner ear fluid. my desire to visit L’Enclume was born by my visit to fera in claridges (which simon rogan recently announced the connections with) earlier in the year. in no case was the meal at fera bad. it felt more industrialized, which does not deprive the number of covers. cooking was polite and correct, but it lacked character. it was missing the soul. but since rogans eat so high is rated by both food authors and cook equally, I decided to make the long hike to cartmel to experience it...

my man and I had a mini holiday in the lake district. I use much too many hair products as I had earned us enough points to buy Aveda products for two free nights in a wellness hotel on the windermeresee (probably not well-weighing and also I do not use that many, as it took me about ten years to collect points). it also included two free massages, so it seemed like a beautiful relaxing trip. we also found out that simon rogans restaurant L’Enclume is located in just a twenty-minute taxi ride, so we decided that if we were in the lake district, we should probably eat in the best restaurant there, right?

After some windy narrow country driving and getting moderately lost we got there and were warmly welcomed by the staff. We sat at a cute table in the main dining room which has rough stone walls and wood beams on the ceiling and enviously eyed the conservatory area which is bright and gorgeous (slightly more modern and overlooking a small garden). Despite the two Michelin stars, the setting is casual and most customers were wearing...
