Maybe we have a rose-tinted memory of Logis de France hotel restaurants. We have traveled the length and breadth of France staying in Logis and rarely been disappointed. For this reason we were looking forward to our dinner at Les Arcades. Sadly we came away vowing not to return. The starters were very ordinary - prawns with avocado and grapefruit looked as if they had been dropped from a great height onto the plate with no thought for presentation, the smoked salmon was sparse and at 16 Euro very poor value. We treated ourselves to half a grilled lobster each and to be blunt they were a rip-off - not much larger than my thumb and 30 Euros each for a couple of mouthfuls. My wife didn't even get a claw so I gave her mine! An ordinary Sancerre at 36 Euros added insult to injury. I was still hungry so I chose tarte tatin for desert. It was unlike any I have had before but it was very good - it was like a confit of apple - outrageously sweet but delicious. Coffee and old Calvados were reasonably priced but we still ended up paying 173 Euros without service.

This old hotel stands close to the docks in the centre of Dieppe. It is rather an old-fashioned place, with a short but quite interesting menu. It's patronised by a mixture of locals and tourists. On the day we visited, the menu featured tarragon chicken, steaks, boeuf burgignon, and a range of interesting starters including oysters, st jacques, and andouille in brik pastry. The dishes were well-cooked and presented, although the main courses came only with a choice of chips or vegetables (not both). The wine list is not especially distinguished, but is reasonably good value, and includes three pichet wines. On the whole, this is an interesting place to try, but not worth making a special trip.

Ordered moule frite this evening. Moules fine but frites were underdone and soggy and had been cooked in long expired oil/fat, so looked overdone. The waitress said they were fine and she certainly enjoyed them! They left the table and were not replaced. When asked where the fresh ones where, I was told they would be exactly the same. When they did return, they were the same and so did not get eaten, but even so were charged for as usual. What's happened to customer satisfaction - I know it is lacking in UK, but now it has spread to France.

We had the 23 Euro dinner here. The restaurant is fine; the service is friendly and efficient. The starters were tasty but we were disappointed by the mains (aile de raie and cabillaud); although prettily presented, they were under-seasoned and insipid. The desserts also were trying to look good, but lacked the most important thing : flavour. There must be better than this in Dieppe.
