We 've been traveling to the Dordogne for a couple of years because it 's beautiful everywhere and we 've been joking you can not find a single bad restaurant anywhere. Until our experience at Les Flots Bleus. We drove out of our way for a little more upscale experience because we were celebrating and planned to go all out. We ordered an apéritif, the Gourmand menu, mineral water and a bottle of wine. I explained what kind of wine we wanted: full bodied and oaky. Unfortunately the wine we got was very acidic/citrusy/fruity (the Bastide de Blacailloux Miraia blanc . We told the waiter and he kindly let us try another (Chateau L ' Hospital, Graves Blanc . Much better (oaky in the nose , but again high in acid and minerals, which we do not like, especially with the food we ordered. He offered to let us try two other wines. They do not serve wines by the glass, so they had to open it for us. I felt bad, so I told the waiter he could just bring us a glass of house rosé, the saver option. I assumed our taste in whites and that of their sommelier just wasn 't a match, no big deal and we certainly did not want to cause problems. This is when a lady, we presume the manager or owner, came to our table very angry. They wouldn 't open another bottle of wine for us. I told her I understand, but the wine was clashing with the food. She said the wine was good and that 's that. Her attitude was incredibly rude, we felt disrespected. Maybe because we are younger (30+ or only my partner speaks French? The wine wasn 't awful, but it wasn 't what I described/ordered or what matched with our food. I asked for the wine list and we decided on a bottle of Champagne to try and turn the night around. Unfortunately, nobody came back to our table. This whole time our first course was sitting in front of us almost untouched because of waiting to pair it with wine. Side note: it was a surprisingly mediocre dish which normally is a specialty in the area. We slowly started getting ready to leave (for the first time ever in our lives , all the while trying to get someone to our table, but it wasn 't until we were already standing with our coats on that the lady asked us to follow her. She made us pay for the first courses (after just a few bites . We left hungry while it was raining, but we were relieved to be away from that table.
