Les Forges de Pimpont

We dropped in for Saturday lunch and were immediately impressed by the ambiance - a nice traditional feel - complete with massive fireplace (with grill for preparing brochettes) and a stuffed wild boar's head - rustic but also quite refined. We selected the Traditional set menu for 21 Euros. The starters set a high standard - the gesiers salad was substantial with nicely (and lighlty) cooked gizzards with mushrooms, whilst the terrine was brought in a large dish from which you helped yourself, served with home-made onion chutney. Both were delicious. For mains, the quail came in a little cast iron pot bathed in a delicious slightly sweet sauce, whilst the rabbit and game casserole was superb...

before I book a table there, this is my guide, there are several menus in the evening with local products like asvenisson oyster etc. when we went there, the restaurant is no more table free. the service could appear long, but a. good ccoking they need to wait.

A clean, little hole in the wall. Great for an afternoon or early dinner. Consistent food and friendly staff with good prices.
